This 3-day desert tour from Marrakech to the Merzouga Dunes offers a captivating journey through the southern Sahara. You will explore magnificent Kasbahs, experience unforgettable moments with the Berbers, and visit the historic Ait Ben Haddou and Toudra Gorge. The adventure also includes spending a night in a desert camp under a traditional Berber tent.
Itinerary
Day 1: Marrakech – Tizi-n-Tichka – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Tinghir
Depart from your accommodation or the nearest place for transport from your riad in Marrakech at 7:00 AM. Begin your journey to Tinghir, crossing the Tizi-n-Tichka Atlas pass with expansive views of the mountains and traditional High Atlas Berber villages. Continue to Kasbah Ait Benhaddou to visit the UNESCO World Heritage site. Enjoy lunch at Ait Benhaddou, followed by a stop at a supermarket in Ouarzazate. Proceed to Tinghir via Rose Valley for an overnight stay in a hotel, including dinner and breakfast.

Day 2: Tinghir – Gorge Todgha & Oasis – Tinejdad – Erfoud – Merzouga
After breakfast, depart for Erg Chebbi Sahara Desert in Merzouga. Pass through Berber villages, Todra Gorges, oases, Tinjdad, Jorf, and Erfoud, arriving at the Saharan oasis of Tafilalet. Upon arrival at the hotel in Merzouga, take a short rest before packing a small bag for the night in the desert. Embark on a camel trek across the Erg Chebbi sand dunes, capturing beautiful sunset and sunrise photos. Reach the camp, climb the highest sand dunes for sandboarding, and watch the sunset. Spend the night in a Berber nomad tent camp with drum music in the middle of the Sahara.

Day 3: Merzouga – High Atlas – Marrakech
Wake up early to watch the sunrise over the dunes. Ride camels back to Merzouga for breakfast and a shower in camp. Start the journey back to Marrakech, passing through various areas and Berber villages. Upon reaching Ouarzazate, retrace your route back to Marrakech, concluding your shared 3-day desert tour in the late afternoon around 7:30 PM with a drop-off at your hotel or the nearest accessible point to your riad.
