You’ll explore both tomorrow. Your adventure begins with a welcome meeting at 6 pm. If you have spare time before the welcome meeting, maybe head out to sample some specialties like lablabi (chickpea soup), tajine (different from the Moroccan version), or, if you have a sweet tooth, bambalouni (deep-fried doughnut).

Pause for lunch at a local restaurant, then return to Tunis to visit Tunis Medina, the city’s UNESCO-listed old city. If you’re thinking about this tour, DO IT! I have left with some amazing new friends and our tour guide was awesome. Between the spectacular views and the stories our guide shared about the history, you cannot miss out on this tour. Swimming in Djerba, dancing and incredible short hikes are a few of the activites you can get up to. 11/10, would recommend!

Family Traveller

Saharansky was outstanding. We are a family of four who travelled to Tunisia for the first time from the United States. We booked the 8 Days Tunisia Essential Discovery Private Tour (which is the best way to get all the flavors of Tunisia in a short time, from the Atlas mountains to the Sahara to the Mediterranean coast). Despite arriving two days late to Tunisia (due to weather related delays in the U.S.), Saharansky happily accommodated us by shifting the front part of the tour (near Tunis) to the end at no cost to us. Our guide, Rafik, was excellent – knowledgeable, great with all of the questions our kids had throughout the tour, and generally very accommodating of how we wanted to handle the schedule each day. The team was incredibly responsive before and throughout the tour. The prices were very reasonable and the hotels/dars were very nice across the board. Saharansky gave us a memorable experience! Especially for U.S./U.K. travelers – and those with families – they are the best!

I had a wonderful trip with Hisham (driver) and Boutheyna (guide). They were so friendly and knowledgeable. I visited all the main sites: capital, Al Jem, Jerba, Tozeur, etc all the main archeological sites. I also visited 3 sites where they filmed Star Wars.

The food was great – there is a wide variety even if you are a vegetarian. The hotels were excellent most notably Dar Horchani in Tozeur. It made me feel as if I was living in a palace from 1,001 nights stories. The sites were spectacular and Boutheyna and Hisham were most helpful if I needed anything.

I highly recommend Saharansky and if you go, ask for Hisham and Boutheyna.
